mission statement:
OVATIONS DANCE REPERTORY COMPANY
The Company:
OVATIONS DANCE REPERTORY COMPANY, a 501(3)(C) a non-profit organization, has enjoyed years of rich tradition and artistic expression throughout New York on Long Island. Since its founding in 1997, under the artistic direction of Orlando Peña, ODRC has become a name within the community.
It is the company’s strongest belief that nurturing, encouragement, and confidence building will enhance each child’s self-esteem and artistic talent. Giving rise to young talent, and introducing new interpretations of classic full length productions, ODRC has created a sophisticated repertory that offers powerful entertainment, as well as education, for the community.
The STARLIGHT Program
Designed to reach out to those in the community who are unable to afford the cost of entertainment.
- By providing tickets free of charge to children in low income school districts they become exposed to the artistry of dance.
- ODRC also offers the opportunity for children from low-income families to participate at no cost to themselves.
- Annually, ODRC takes every opportunity to reach out to the public by going “on the road” to perform “The Nutcracker Suite”, musical productions and other programs at community events, as well as entertain the elderly in assisted living communities and nursing homes.
- Beneficiaries of the STARLIGHT Program have been Brookhaven Hospital, LIGALY, The Phoenix House and The Mary Golden House.
The STARLIGHT Program is sponsored by corporate contributions, individuals, and fundraising events.
