Improvisation for High School and Adults What a great two week session we had! We are excited to continue our Sunday workshop for the next 4 Sundays starting Feb 5th 4-530 ages 13 and up! Come dive into somatic theater techniques taken from the great masters of movement Michael Chekov and Jacque Lecoq taught by Miss Marianne No prior experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and explore the world of imagination and somatic presence. Marianne Giosa After growing up with preliminary ballet and tap training she went on to complete her BFA at Queens CUNY and SVA. Her studies continued in a wide range of multi cultural dance genres from Afro Brazillian, West African, to present day classical Ballet, includes institutions such as Alvin Ailey, DanceSpace, Mark Morris, and Ballet Arts City Center. In 2000 she worked with Cilla Vee Life Arts under the direction of Elizabeth Claire Barret,creating various improv street scenes and site specific works in conjunction with chasama org and various arts initiatives. She first began choreographing improvisational dance and music at the MetroMovement Project in New York City where by she created various collaborations of NYC's downtown advant-guard free jazz musicians such as legendary Daniel Carter and various improvisational dancers. She met the legendary dancer and choreographer Margaret Bealls and joined her company; Impulses in 2014 and has been working with her to this present day. Her love of improv led her to dive into various theatrical somatic studies including Michael Checkov technique and Clowning, all based in Lecoq style of theater arts. She has just completed her short dance film Odine's Dream in collaboration with Teresa Smith, a site specific work in Woodstock NY.
