Dear Parents and Students,
We welcome you to Ovations Dance Academy of Tampa!!! I am excited about the opportunity to get to know those of you that are new, as well as welcome back my returning students.
A few things to start the new session for the younger ones.…
TEARS: It's possible your dancer may have a meltdown his or her first day of class (or two or three classes). Don't panic! This is normal, especially for our youngest dancers. It's important to have patience with our little ones. They may need mom or dad to sit in the classroom the first few weeks and that is OK! Your teacher will let you know if they feel it is best for you to stay. Every child is different and may need different things to help them take the first step towards participating comfortably in class. Everyone marches to their own beat and on their own time.
MAKE UP CLASSES – If your child misses a class they may make up in another class that matches their ability, level or age group. Please check as to what class is available. No make ups after March--we're working on Showcase material.
CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE:
Please be on time for class and on time for pick up. Please be careful in the parking lot. No young child or teens are permitted to wait outside the studio until a parent has arrived.
Have your little ones use the restroom before class.
ATTIRE - The studio is not a place to make a fashion statement.
Skirts are optional. Same color as leotard.Pink or black tights only.
All students are required to wear the school uniform due to the variety of non-conforming attire.
Mandatory leotards can only be purchased through the studio upon registration. Since most students dance more than once a week, please purchase additional leotards. Also, I ask kindly not to make me the bad guy and ask you to wear the leotard we provide. Don’t be slick. It brings bad energy to the table. Play by the rules to minimize distraction for your student's classmates and demonstrate respect from your student.

PERFORMANCES: Ovations is a Conservatory.Nude tan leotards are required for all performances for modesty under costumes.

Daddy and Me!A special opportunity exclusively for our Ballet 1 students!Our new Daddy and Me class starts April 1 and culminates in a special showcase performance with Dad! First come first serve, 18 students only, paid in full in August (including costume fee). Classes are held on Fridays 6-6:45pm with Dad for April and May 2025, in addition to their usual year-round Ballet 1 classes.
The Nutcracker Suite information performed under Ovation Dance Repertory Company Non-profit
Audition: ages 5+ to adultsWe are thrilled to be bringing The Nutcracker Suite to Tampa! Ovations Nutcracker was a holiday staple in NY for 20 years, so we set our goals high. This classical tradition is a ballet, so all students are required to enroll in at least one other ballet class at ODAT. Guest artists will be invited to perform with the company. This year we will perform 2 acts.
Audition fee: $25 per child and $35 per family.Company fee: $475 each - Includes Costume rental, video, t-shirt and headshot.Rehearsals are held Fridays and Saturdays
CHANGES TO MUSICAL THEATRE!Our program is expanding and changing!Our productions have gained wonderful momentum and Florida summers are busy. With that being said, Musical Theatre will move the summer musical to the spring! This will pave the way for new and exciting camps and Summer Intensives during the summer.Additionally, Musical Theatre classes will now be on TUESDAYS.
Mary Poppins Jr. Audition prep workshop during class time Aug. 6th.Auditions: Sat. August 10th, time 11:30am.Prepare a song and bring a headshot.Ages 5- 18 are welcomed to audition. Rehearsals on Tuesday afternoons/evenings. Class times will be announced60 min. class (ages 5-10) is $85.00 a month90 min class (age 10+) is $140.00Billed separately and not part of the tuition scale. Production fee of $200 will cover 2 costumes, video of the performance, and exclusive cast t-shirt, and will be deducted Oct. 15.Mary Poppins performance will be Sat., Feb 1st. Onstage dress rehearsal at Dunedin HS Friday, Jan. 31.Saturday rehearsals in January are mandatory.
Spring/Summer musicalMore info to come soon!Performances will be in mid-June, so everyone can leave the Florida heat for the rest of the summer once the shows are over!
